FAQs

Who can attend UK AI Forum’s events?

UK AI Forum events are primarily designed for professionals actively working in the AI space, including researchers, engineers, policymakers, and thought leaders. While our core community consists of AI professionals, we also welcome participants from adjacent fields who bring valuable interdisciplinary perspectives to discussions about AI and its impact on humanity's future.

What types of events does UK AI Forum host?

We’re planning to host four main types of events:

  • Monthly salon evenings: Intimate gatherings of 30-50 participants featuring short talks that spark deeper conversations

  • Quarterly colloquia: Larger events bringing together 100+ participants from across institutions, industries, and disciplines

  • Research exchange dinners: Small, focused, invitation-based dinners that mix researchers from different institutions

  • Parties: Large celebrations where the AI ecosystem can connect in a relaxed setting, celebrate breakthroughs, and let creativity flourish

How does UK AI Forum contribute to AI security?

AI safety/security is central to our mission. We believe the AI security community needs to be ambitious in its goals and approaches. UK AI Forum creates spaces where researchers in this space can consolidate interests, refine ideas, and cultivate an atmosphere of ambition and agency.

Our goal is to amplify groundbreaking work in AI security, motivate people to pursue relevant upskilling, foster collaborations between researchers, and build bridges between technical AI development and security research.

Is UK AI Forum connected to other institutions?

UK AI Forum is strategically positioned within the broader UK innovation landscape. We're sponsored by Meridian Cambridge, which also hosts the Cambridge AI Safety Hub. We're actively building relationships with key institutions across the UK AI ecosystem - if you’d be interested in collaborating with us on an event, please get in touch!

How can I or my organisation get involved with UK AI Forum?

Whether you're interested in attending our events, speaking at a salon, hosting a research dinner, or forming a more long-standing partnership, we'd love to hear from you and discuss how we can collaborate to strengthen the UK's AI ecosystem. Please feel free to reach out at [email].

What is UK AI Forum’s approach to community building?

Our community building is guided by three core principles:

  1. Organic connections: We design events that facilitate natural conversation. There will be no awkward networking exercises.

  2. Cross-pollination: We aim to mix participants from different institutions and disciplines to find unexpected common ground.

  3. Quality over quantity: We focus on meaningful interactions, building our reputation through strong execution and gradual, organic growth

How does UK AI Forum measure its success?

We evaluate our impact through event attendance, the number of cross-institutional collaborations formed, participant satisfaction, research output resulting from connections made at our events, and the growth of our community.
